The Electrical Engineering Intern would work for one of the engineers in one of our manufacturing units at Ravenswood, WV facility. This role provides exposure to work with a wide variety of roles within and outside of the facility.

Responsibilities

Their main project would involve a cross-functional team that would like likely include several of the following groups:

  • The rest of the engineering team
  • One or more of our 4 manufacturing units (casting, hot rolling, coil processing, or plate)
  • Process Engineers
  • Managers
  • Supervisors
  • Operators & technicians
  • Automated Systems Group
  • Maintenance
  • Central Engineering

This provides insight to several different career paths engineers can take.

Requirements

  • Sophomore or Junior class standing
  • Majoring in electrical engineering

Structure for Opportunities

  • Duration – 3-month summer internship

The Material Science Engineering Intern would work for one of the metallurgist in the Process Development Metallurgy section of the Quality Department at Ravenswood. This role provides exposure to work with a wide variety of roles within and outside of the facility.

Constellium Ravenswood produces plate, sheet, and coil products for aerospace, defense, transportation, marine, and industrial uses. As the global leader in aluminium aerospace technology, we specialize in high performance plates and sheets that bring cost benefits to space programs and military and commercial aircraft. Our pre-machining and custom designed components can be found in products for Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Lockheed Martin, NASA, and others.

Capabilities

Casting: The casthouse specializes in high-purity casting for the aerospace plate market, as well as casting for transportation, industry, and defense products. The casting department consists of five DC furnace complexes with capacities from 40 to 100 metric tons, capable of producing both coil and plate products. The casthouse can produce large aerospace ingots, 300” (762 cm) in length with cross-sections of 24” x 80”.

Hot mill: One of the most powerful and versatile in the industry, the Ravenswood hot mill produces a variety of specifications for aerospace and general engineering plate, along with wide coil for transportation markets. The hot rolling operations consist of 28 furnaces, one scalper, one saw, two reversing mills, three shears, and one five-stand finishing mill.

Plate shop: The plate shop is a leading center in the industry. With one of the world’s largest stretchers coupled to the heat treatment furnaces, Ravenswood provides production capabilities not found anywhere else, and delivers unique products to our customers. The plate shop consists of 19 production centers supported by 23 cranes.

Cold mill: The cold mill is one of the industry’s widest, with a rare feature of backup roll bending. The mill produces an array of thicknesses and widths for our transportation and marine markets. The cold rolling shop consists of four-stand and five-stand mills, a heavy gauge slitter, a wide tension leveling line, 14 coil annealing furnaces, six finishing annealing furnaces, and external convertors for additional finishing operations.
